Man Of Peace

from The Net by Mark Laurent

/

about

Adapted from Psalm 120, I wrote this at the time of the second Gulf war in the wake of 9/11.

lyrics

MAN OF PEACE

I call on the lord in my distress
I call on the lord in my distress
I call on the lord in my distress
And he answers me

Save Me from lying lips
Save me from deceitful tongues
Save me

Oh what will he do to you
And what more besides
O deceitful tongue?
Like warriors' sharp arrows
Like coals from the fire
O deceitful tongue

Woe that I dwell in this land
Woe that I'm caught in this place
Too long have I lived among men
Who hate peace

You only have to look at the movies we watch
Hear the news on the radio
The video games that we play
To know how much we hate peace.

I am a peaceful man
I try to be a peaceful man
But when I speak
They are for war.

I call on the lord in my distress
And he answers me
He says "I am a man of peace
I am a man of peace".
